Job Summary
Live and work within residential student homes to provide daily care, guidance, and structure to children and adolescents. Model positive behavior, support homework routines, and coordinate meals, chores, and activities while building trusting relationships and offering mentorship. Supervise students during on- and off-campus activities, maintain a structured environment, and document observations or incidents. Respond calmly to crises using de-escalation strategies and follow school protocols to ensure safety. Collaborate with teachers and counselors to support academic, social, and emotional needs. Participate in family-style mealtimes and life-skills learning, including personal hygiene and time management. Manage irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays consistent with the residential school schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience working with youth in residential care, education, counseling, social services, or related community programs
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CPR and First Aid certification, or the willingness to obtain certification shortly after hire
- Strong communication skills
- Patience
- Ability to work with children and teens from varied backgrounds
- Cultural sensitivity
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Flexibility and ability to manage irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Desired Qualifications
- Additional education in human services, psychology, education, or a related field
