Job Summary
Monitor resident activities, maintain availability for personal and morale support, and coordinate care regarding security issues including bed checks and room searches. Liaise with external agencies for referrals and handle admissions, orientation, and rule enforcement. Serve as receptionist by answering phones, taking messages, and directing community inquiries. Prepare simple meals for clients and accurately record daily happenings in logbooks and occurrence reports. Work shifts with a pager/walkie talkie in a shelter environment, adhering to a schedule requiring availability for all three shift times, four weekend shifts, and two graveyard shifts monthly.
Required Qualifications
- High school completion
- Specialized courses of up to six (6) months
- Diploma in Social Services
- CPR, First Aid Certification
- Criminal Record Check
- Non-Violent Crisis Training
- More than three months but less than one year of prior related experience
- Experience with frontline work in a social service setting
- Availability for all three shift times
- Availability for 16 shifts: four must be Saturday or Sunday and two additional must be graveyard (where applicable) each month
- Availability for eight statutory holidays annually, including Christmas or New Years
- Background check consent
- Clear vulnerable sector screening
- Clean drivers abstract
- Completion of online Praesidium Abuse Training
- Completion of required Health and Safety training
