Job Summary
Residential Support Worker provides in-home support within a semi-independent congregate living environment as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will help residents achieve personal goals, teach and promote skills (menu planning, cooking, housekeeping, budgeting), plan and attend leisure and community activities, facilitate monthly resident meetings, collaborate with the R2R team, listen with empathy, and provide transportation as required. The role emphasizes supporting residents with mental illness, addictions, and life-skills development, requiring strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work autonomously or as part of a rural-team, with willingness to serve communities in Muskoka and Parry Sound. Proficiency with Windows, Internet and data management software, plus a valid Ontario driver’s license and vehicle insurance are required; bilingual French is an asset. The schedule may include days, evenings, weekends and holidays, with a salary range of $25.26-$28.98/hour depending on qualifications and experience; benefits include a comprehensive plan and HOOPP retirement plan. Required Qualifications
- A suitable level of education achieved through community college, university, or a secondary school diploma with experience with people diagnosed with mental health and addiction concerns
- At least six months of relevant experience working with people diagnosed with mental health & substance use concerns; or at least two years relevant experience; and experience in a congregate living environment is an asset
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary healthcare team is an asset
- Understanding of mental illnesses, substance use, addictions, psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery, and medication; understanding of fire and safety
- Valid Ontario G or G2 driver’s license with a safe and reliable vehicle and $1,000,000 liability coverage
- Bilingual in French is an asset
