Residential Support Specialist- Per Diem

Job Summary
Conduct initial assessments and screenings for residents struggling with mental health challenges. Teach guests to utilize wellness tools to prevent future crises and decrease crisis intensity. Work with Health Homes, hospitals, and treatment providers to develop integrated care plans covering mental health, physical health, and substance use. Provide advocacy, support, and referral linkage services as assigned. Deliver recovery-oriented services incorporating Peer Support, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma-Informed care. Provide coverage including overnights, rotate warm line responsibilities, and make follow-up calls. Function as a member of an interdisciplinary team while acting as a role model for residents. Maintain residence upkeep and cleanliness.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1-3 years' volunteer or work experience in the Behavioral Healthcare field
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- A respect for and high level of comfort around people experiencing psychiatric crisis
- Ability to utilize critical thinking, problem-solving and de-escalation skills
- Must possess a valid New York State driver's license
- Must possess reliable transportation
- Is sensitive to cultural differences
- Ability to incorporate cultural understanding into service provision
- Demonstrates the values of diversity, equity and belonging
- Ability to foster an inclusive environment that facilitates diversity
- Hours: Days, Evenings, Weekends, or Overnights available
