Residential Support Counselor (Potter's House)

Job Summary
Monitor and support residents' behavior using trauma-informed care and positive reinforcement techniques while implementing individualized behavioral support plans. Provide direct supervision, mentoring, and crisis intervention using approved Physical/Psychological Management Training (PMT) techniques. Assist residents with activities of daily living including hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks, and organize structured therapeutic and recreational activities. Transport residents to medical appointments and community integration programs, and maintain accurate records in the Electronic Health Record system. Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clinical staff to ensure consistent support, and follow established procedures for emergencies and mandatory reporting. Secure the facility by performing safety checks and monitoring medication storage. Work flexible 24/7 schedules including early mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays, and mandated overtime.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least one year working with individuals with emotional, behavioral, or developmental disabilities in a residential or community setting
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet transportation requirements as needed
- Ability to complete and maintain relevant certifications (e.g., First Aid/CPR, crisis intervention)
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to be on feet for extended periods
- Must be able to lift, stand, or perform physical tasks as needed (e.g., helping residents with mobility)
- Ability to perform all requirements of physical management techniques (PMT)
- Must be flexible to work across various educational, residential, and group home settings as needed
- Must be available for early mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays, mandated overtime, and on call responsibilities
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, criminal justice, or a related human services field
