Job Summary
Respond to overflow crisis calls and provide crisis intervention using recovery-oriented approaches. Build supportive relationships with residents to promote self-determination while assisting them in achieving personal goals and increasing independence. Provide direct support for life skills, social skills, coping strategies, and community living skills. Transport residents to medical, psychiatric, dental, and essential appointments. Facilitate recreational, educational, and recovery-focused groups and activities. Collaborate with staff, leadership, and treatment providers to address resident needs. Maintain accurate documentation of services and crisis interventions. Promote a safe, respectful, and therapeutic living environment. Participate in staff meetings and trainings as required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 12 semester credit hours in social sciences from an accredited college or university
- At least two (2) years of experience in a public or human service setting
- At least one (1) year of direct experience working with individuals experiencing mental health challenges
- High School Diploma or GED
- Personal lived experience with mental health recovery or experience as a family member of an individual with a mental health condition
- Demonstrated leadership, advocacy, or active participation in a consumer, peer, or family support organization or group
- Valid driver's license
- Acceptable driving record as determined by the agency's insurance carrier
- Ability to safely operate agency vehicles and transport residents throughout the community
- Ability to successfully complete all required background, reference, and motor vehicle record checks
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field
- Experience in residential behavioral health, crisis intervention, peer support, psychiatric rehabilitation, or community mental health services
- Knowledge of recovery-oriented care, trauma-informed practices, and person-centered treatment approaches
- Experience working with adults diagnosed with serious mental illness
