Job Summary
Residential Substance Use Counselor in Rochester, NY: Provide residential and clinical support to substance use disorder clients, maintain confidentiality, and ensure trauma-informed care. Manage a caseload, handle admissions and discharges, provide individual therapy, oversee medication processes, and develop treatment plans. Coordinate with collateral agencies to ensure comprehensive client services, assist with DHS requirements, and deliver life skills programming (vocational/educational planning, parenting, anger management, financial literacy, daily living skills, relapse prevention). Facilitate one-on-one and group life skills sessions, coordinate outside speakers, and communicate resident needs to the residential team. Ensure a safe therapeutic environment, conduct weekly house checks, document incidents, and support crisis intervention and on-call duties. Engage in team meetings, professional development, and adherence to agency mission and policies.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in Social Work or related Human Services field required
- Valid and clean NYS Driver’s License
- QHP- CASAC- T, CASAC, LMSW, LCSW, NCCC, LMHC, CRC, RN, or PhD required
- Recovery peer advocate training also preferred
