Job Summary
Residential Substance Use Counselor provides residential and clinical support to individuals with substance use disorder, maintains confidentiality and trauma-informed care, carries a caseload, handles admissions/discharges and treatment planning, manages medications, delivers individual therapy, and facilitates life-skills education and programming. The role requires collaboration with agency staff and external providers, coordination of services, crisis intervention as needed, and participation in team/residential activities to support client recovery and community integration.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s Degree in Social Work, or in related Human Services field required.
- Credentials: Valid and clean NYS Driver’s License. QHP- CASAC- T, CASAC, LMSW, LCSW, NCCC, LMHC, CRC, RN, or PhD required. Recovery peer advocate training also preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of two years of experience working with substance use disorder clients or mental health services preferred. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
- Counselor I Qualifications: CASAC-T
- Counselor II Qualifications: CASAC
- Counselor III Qualifications: Master CASAC, Specialty CASAC, or other QHP
