Job Summary

Provide 24/7 staffing for WEAVE's confidential emergency shelter and transitional housing sites, including central rotunda desk coverage and gate access management. Monitor security cameras, enforce shelter rules, and respond to the 24/7 support line with emotional support, safety planning, and referrals. Maintain resident safety by managing emergency supplies, cleaning rooms and shared spaces, and organizing donations. Facilitate connections between residents and case managers while leading approved recreational activities to foster community. Create a nurturing environment by addressing facility maintenance needs and participating in routine training on cleanliness and emergency procedures. Maintain accurate records in Apricot and attend staff meetings. This role requires overnight shifts and local driving to various agency sites.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of associate degree in social work, facility management, or a related field, or demonstrated experience
  • Demonstrated compassion, empathy, and understanding of domestic violence issues
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with diverse populations
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical conduct
  • Crisis intervention skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Valid California Driver's license and reliable transportation, including vehicle insurance
  • Must be able to lift and carry 25 lbs. often
  • Must be able to move 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to extend both arms above the head
  • Must be able to reach below the waist
  • Must be able to stoop
  • Must be able to squat
  • Must be able to crawl
  • Must be able to bend the back
  • Must be able to climb stairs
  • Must be able to use an elevator
  • Must be able to remain in one position (i.e. sitting or standing) for an extended period
  • Must be able to efficiently operate a keyboard and mouse or adaptive equivalent
  • Must be able to write reports, take notes
  • Must be able to utilize desk tools such as phones or calculators
  • Must be able to utilize larger office equipment such as printers and copy machines
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely with others
  • Must be able to apply above average reasoning and detail as required in the accomplishment of duties
  • Complete WEAVE's 69-hour peer counselor training program and pass background check (post-hiring requirement)
  • Annual completion of WEAVE's continuing education requirements to maintain Peer Counselor Certification
  • Must be available for overnight shifts

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a shelter, crisis center, or social service setting is preferred
  • Bilingual skills are desired
