Job Summary
Teach individuals to utilize wellness tools to prevent future crises or decrease the intensity of personal crisis through the Need Adapted Treatment Model. Work closely with Health Homes, hospitals, and treatment providers to develop integrated plans of care covering mental health, physical health, and substance abuse services. Provide advocacy, supportive counseling, and referral services for program guests as assigned by the Program Director. Deliver recovery-oriented services incorporating Motivational Interviewing while providing coverage for the program, including overnights as required. Complete all documentation in timelines according to program standards. Evening, weekend, and overnight shifts available.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- 1-3 years of relevant experience working with individuals with Mental Health or Chemical Dependency disorders
- Bachelor's Degree
- Student or intern within a DOH-approved NYS education department program
- Licensed Practical Nurse
- Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Counselor (CASAC)
- A respect for and high level of comfort around people experiencing psychiatric crisis
- Ability to utilize critical thinking, problem-solving and de-escalation skills to assist with creating and maintaining an environment that promotes recovery
- Availability for evenings, weekends, and overnights
Desired Qualifications
- Work experience in a behavioral health or related setting
- Experience using the recovery model
