RESIDENTIAL SECURITY OFFICER

Job Summary
Provide personal, equipment, and real property security for residence on Lane College campus. Patrol residence halls, grounds, and roadways on foot; guard property against fire, theft, vandalism and unlawful entry. Maintain active presence in residence hall areas; observe, investigate, and report potentially dangerous conditions and disturbances; assist police in detainment or arrest when necessary. Report equipment malfunctions and residential emergencies; respond to fires, alarms, and hazardous situations; direct traffic at events. Produce logs and incident reports; interact with students, staff, and the public to maintain rapport and provide information and assistance. Requires basic security knowledge, ability to record distances/times, strong writing skills, and ability to use Microsoft Office; physical ability to walk/stand for extended periods and carry up to 50 pounds; capable of responding to emergencies and coordinating with community-based police, fire, and dispatch.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two years of security or law enforcement experience
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office
- Sufficient writing skill to prepare incident reports
- Ability to perform duties with physical endurance (walk stairs, stand/walk extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds)
- Ability to communicate with students, staff, and visitors
- Ability to initiate and maintain communication with police, fire, and dispatch
