Job Summary
Residential Plans Reviewer who reviews residential building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing plans for compliance with codes and ordinances (including single-family and two-family dwellings), provides technical code guidance to owners, builders, and architects, participates in pre-construction meetings, prepares reports and correspondence on code compliance, testifies in court when needed, maintains records, and coordinates with county/state/federal agencies. Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), Virginia certification within 18 months, three+ years of relevant experience, and a valid Virginia driver’s license. The role is full-time, exempt, with hybrid remote eligibility; salary ranges from $72,800 to $80,475 annualized; benefits include paid holidays, leave, health insurance, retirement, and continuing education opportunities. The position is based in Albemarle County, Virginia (Charlottesville area) with hybrid-eligible remote work and on-site requirements as determined by management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in architecture, engineering, construction, or a related field of study
- Virginia certification as a residential building plans reviewer within 18 months of employment
- At least three years of experience in the fields of building construction, inspections, plans review or related experience
- Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia
