Job Summary
Meet each new resident at admission, provide compassionate support, and guide individuals in articulating self-determined goals. Engage in one-to-one conversations to build trust, facilitate peer groups for discussing recovery stories, and utilize strategic self-disclosure to normalize mental health challenges. Perform various physical, hands-on maneuvers for crisis de-escalation training, including lifting and transferring clients. This role supports programs in the Junction City region at secure residential facilities for adults with mental illness. Candidates must have personal experience with mental health challenges and hold certification as a Peer Support Specialist or Peer Wellness Specialist through the Oregon Health Authority.
Required Qualifications
- Have personal experience with mental health challenges
- Be Certified and Registered as a Peer Support Specialist (PSS) or Peer Wellness Specialist (PWS) through the Oregon Health Authority (OHA)
- Provide a valid driver's license from their state of residence or obtain and submit one within 30 days of hire
- Maintain a safe driving record
- Have the ability to pass a DHS criminal background check
- Successfully complete crisis de-escalation trainings
- Successfully complete CPR trainings
- Be 18 or older at the time of hire
- Have the ability to frequently talk, listen, use hands and fingers, reach, stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, climb stairs
- Have the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds
- Have the ability to occasionally use ladders, squat/kneel, and perform other physical tasks as applicable
- Have the ability to lift and transfer clients
