Residential Mechanical Designer responsibilities include designing single-family and multi-family residential HVAC systems, performing Manual J, S, and D calculations, and producing detailed AutoCAD construction documents. Role involves drafting mechanical designs for construction bids, ensuring code compliance (IRC, California Title 24, ICC, Uniform Building Codes), and collaborating with design staff. Proficiency with Wrightsoft, AutoCAD, and related tools is required, along with the ability to read blueprints, manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment, and work cross-disciplinarily as part of a team.

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent comparative experience
  • 3+ years’ experience in Mechanical Design for residential building systems, code compliance, and construction
  • Mechanical Design experience with various cooling systems, VRF systems, ventilation, and exhaust systems
  • Mechanical Design experience with mid-rise multifamily buildings, mixed use buildings, residential and enclosed parking garages
