Job Summary
Residential Mechanical Designer with a focus on single-family residential HVAC design. Responsibilities include performing Manual J, S, and D calculations and related designs using Wrightsoft, producing detailed AutoCAD construction documents for bidding and construction, and ensuring compliance with energy and building codes (California Title 24, IRC Residential Codes, ICC, UBC). Will design mechanical systems for single- and multi-family residential buildings, generate construction drawings, and collaborate with design staff and drafters to meet deadlines. Requires reading blueprints, strong attention to detail, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Wrightsoft, Elite, Bluebeam, and MS Office. Based in Richardson, TX, Monday–Friday day shift with possible additional hours. Candidate should have a BS in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) and relevant experience in residential mechanical design and code compliance.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalente (or equivalent comparative experience)
- Preferred 3+ years’ experience in Mechanical Design for residential building systems, code compliance, and construction
- Mechanical Design experience with various cooling systems, VRF systems, ventilation, and exhaust systems
- Mechanical Design experience with mid-rise multifamily buildings, mixed use buildings, residential and enclosed parking garages
- Work Schedule: Monday – Friday day shift, with potential weekend hours
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD; Wrightsoft; understanding of energy/building codes; ability to read blueprints
- Fluent in California Title 24; IRC Residential Codes; ICC International Codes; UBCs
- Proven collaboration with design staff and drafters; deadline-driven; strong communication skills
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent comparative experience.
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed
