Job Summary
Retrieve, review, and organize bidding documents for residential projects, then perform accurate quantity takeoffs for concrete, rebar, and formwork using estimating software. Develop unit pricing by analyzing subcontractor proposals and incorporating labor, materials, and overhead costs. Draft clarifications and communicate assumptions to clients, engineers, and architects while maintaining bid logs and tracking systems. Collaborate with the preconstruction manager to prepare proposals and participate in project handoffs from preconstruction to operations. Coordinate estimate reviews, ensure adherence to deadlines, and provide mentorship to team members. This role supports Rusin Concrete's 27-year history of serving Colorado Springs builders and homeowners with high-quality concrete foundations.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years related experience
- Proficient understanding, reading and interpreting plans/project drawings and specifications
- Proficiency with spreadsheets and digitizing software
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office suite of software
- Strong mathematical aptitude skills
- Experience communicating with clients and vendors
- Strong written and verbal communication/organizational skills
- Ability to work well with deadlines
- Full-time schedule (typically 40–45 hours/week)
- Extended hours may be needed to meet bid deadlines
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Site visits may expose the estimator to dust, noise, uneven terrain, and varying weather conditions—PPE required
- May require to be able to lift and/or move up to 30+ pounds
- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
Desired Qualifications
- A degree in Construction Management is preferred but not required
