Job Summary
Master neighborhood routes by safely operating residential collection vehicles, including side-loaders, rear-loaders, and automated trucks, to service Durham, NC. Efficiently collect solid waste, recyclables, and yard waste according to daily route sheets while providing courteous, professional service to residents. Perform required daily pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and coordinate closely with helpers, mechanics, and supervisors to maintain route quality standards. This full-time, daytime role supports GFL Environmental's mission to keep communities clean, green, and sustainable through direct environmental impact.
Required Qualifications
- Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record
- 1+ years of commercial driving experience OR a certificate from an accredited CDL school
- Ability to maneuver in and out of the cab, handle outdoor conditions, and manage physical aspects of residential collection
- Strong commitment to local traffic laws, company safety procedures, and defensive driving
- Professional demeanor with a positive, helpful attitude when interacting with local residents
- Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
