Residential Dorm Supervisor

Job Summary

Oversee direct care staff to ensure adherence to administrative policies, maintain proper staff-to-resident ratios, and promptly communicate staffing needs. Maintain awareness of resident behavior, set behavioral limits, and proactively intervene to de-escalate crises using verbal redirection and agency-approved interventions. Document safety hazards, injuries, and violations by immediately notifying appropriate personnel such as Maintenance, Nurse, or Program Management. Verify all shift documentation including progress notes, incident reports, and medication records is completed accurately. Collaborate with management and clinical staff to implement individualized treatment plans, develop weekly activity schedules, and ensure dorms adhere to posted daily routines. Provide backup services to other dorms, coach staff on program goals, and conduct periodic one-on-one meetings and staff evaluations. Interview, hire, and onboard new employees while coordinating training initiatives. Work in a child facility with constant exposure to youth, requiring ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 125 lbs.

Required Qualifications

  • 21 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • One (1) year employment experience in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents (9 months if a current/former Upbring RTC employee)
  • Familiarity with basic computer skills, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong communication skills, with demonstrated ability to enter information into a computer in a concise and understandable manner
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Ability to work both in a team environment and independently
  • Ability to use good judgment, think and react rationally and calmly in difficult and stressful situations
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a diverse staff and resident population
  • Ability to work extra shifts on business need
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, move up to 125 lbs.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, Social Services, Human Services, or closely related field
  • One (1) year of supervisory employment experience
  • Trauma Informed Care training and understanding of effects on trauma on development
  • Knowledge of behavior modification and therapeutic settings
  • Ability to provide conflict resolution and de-escalation methods and techniques to ensure the well-being and safety of youth
