Job Summary
Residential Counselor - Mental Health provides therapeutic residential support to adult clients with mental illness in a group home. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities and personal care, medication management, crisis intervention, supervising residents, organizing recreational and social activities, supporting access to additional needed services, data collection and required documentation, adhering to safety standards and regulations, and transporting clients to appointments. The role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, respect for individuals with mental illness and their families, and a valid driver’s license. Schedule includes overnight and weekend hours. Education/credentials options include a high school diploma with substantial work/life experience, nursing licensure (LPN/RN), or a bachelor’s degree in a related field with related experience.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with four (4) years of work or life experience, OR
- High school diploma or equivalent with two (2) years of work or life experience and a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license, OR
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a mental health, health or other related human services discipline, or license as a Registered Nurse (RN) OR
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a non-mental health/health human services discipline and one or more years of related work or life experience together equaling four (4) years
- Valid and unrestricted driver's license with a clean driving record
