Residential Counselor

Job Summary
Provide individual, group, and family counseling in residential and outpatient treatment settings; develop curricula and design treatment plans for clients; maintain treatment-related paperwork (plans, evaluations, discharge summaries, forms) in electronic health records; participate in staff meetings and supervision; participate in on-call clinical coverage at residential facilities; provide psychoeducational groups on addiction topics, stress management, and related areas; assist in collecting client fees as needed; and ensure compliance with HIPAA and 42-CFR Part 2 while delivering telehealth services.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social work, sociology, psychology, substance abuse counseling or a closely related field is required
- Master's degree matching one of the aforementioned professions is preferred
- Be licensed at the masters level to provide psychotherapy services OR be a licensed Addictions Counselor in the State of Kansas
- Certification to deliver SB 123 services and assessments desirable
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively
- Capable of maintaining a team spirit and working cooperatively with others
- Must be adaptable to change and have effective organizational skills
- Must be able to organize and follow through on multiple tasks
- Knowledge of addiction and treatment modalities
- Experience with telehealth is preferred
- Ability to pass security check
- Sustained abstinence from all intoxicating substances for two consecutive years if previously diagnosed
- Proficient computer skills and experience with Electronic Health Records
- Understanding of HIPAA and 42-CFR Part 2 in telehealth contexts
- Ability to establish rapport with clients with complex needs
- Ability to work with individuals involved in the criminal justice system preferred
