Job Summary
Residential Counselor duties include providing direct care and counseling to adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities in a residential program. Responsibilities encompass health care support (routine, preventive, and emergency care), assisting with activities of daily living (showering, toileting, shaving, meal-time assistance), maintaining safe living environments, delivering education, training, and counseling to help clients achieve ISP goals in areas such as functional academics, domestic skills, health and personal hygiene, social and leisure skills, communication, community mobility, self-esteem, and money management. The role also involves developing, writing, and presenting annual ISPs and semi-annual assessments in collaboration with residential staff and directors, providing transportation as needed, and performing case management with confidential file maintenance and regular meetings. Requires experience with ID/DD, a degree (Bachelor’s or Associate) or HS diploma with substantial related experience, ability to pass background checks, a valid driver’s license, and strong communication skills. Required Qualifications
- Experience working with Individuals with ID/DD
- A Bachelor’s degree or an associate degree in a related field with two years of experience, or HS diploma and five years of related work experience in Human Services
- Must be able to pass Fingerprint background check, CORI, DPPC and Driving background checks
- Valid Driver's License required
- Valid MAP certification is preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
