Job Summary
The Residential/Commercial Real Estate Paralegal supports legal, underwriting, and escrow operations at Old Republic Title, handling real estate transactions from start to finish. Responsibilities include independently facilitating closings (preparing closing statements and documents, coordinating with Escrow Services), drafting pro-forma policies and title commitments, ordering and updating title searches, and collaborating with Underwriting and nationwide offices to review and execute escrow documents. Requires experience with title insurance, closings, and escrow workflows, strong communication skills, proficiency with closing software and Microsoft Office, and the ability to manage large transactional closings with accuracy and efficiency. Hybrid role based out of Fairfield, CT; 2+ years of related paralegal experience in commercial real estate preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Paralegal degree/certification or minimum 3 years of related practical experience with a law firm or commercial title insurer
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a commercial real estate paralegal
- Experience with closing software
- Knowledge of title insurance and information industry preferred
- Strong oral and written communication
- Ability to independently process commercial and large transactional real estate closings from start to finish
- Strong mathematical skills
- Detail oriented
- Able to multi-task and prioritize
- Excellent problem solving and organizational skills
- Able to build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers
- Windows and Microsoft Office competency (including Excel)
