Job Summary
Measure floor areas accurately, inspect and prepare surfaces by removing old flooring, and cut carpet to size using appropriate tools. Lay and secure carpet with tack strips and adhesive, stretch it to eliminate wrinkles, and join seams using heat tape or sewing. Trim excess material around edges, install padding, and perform final inspections to ensure a high-quality finish. Address installation issues, repair damaged sections, and communicate with clients to recommend carpet types based on their needs. Follow all safety protocols, wear required PPE, and handle tools responsibly while working in residential settings. Submit a resume and cover letter detailing relevant experience and qualifications.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience as a carpet installer or in a similar role
- Proficiency with installation tools, including but not limited to knives, cutters, stretchers, and seam irons
- Strong attention to detail and precision
- Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor, including lifting and carrying heavy materials
- Knowledge of different carpet types and installation techniques
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
Desired Qualifications
- Vocational training or certification in flooring installation
- Previous experience in residential or commercial carpet installation projects
