Job Summary
As a Residential Care Worker, you will support individuals in various home settings to promote independence, foster opportunities for learning, self-expression, and community connection. You will assist with personal care, emotional and social support, and medical needs as required, while advocating for people’s rights and inclusion. You are expected to follow individualized care plans and help build new routines based on personal preferences, requiring strong communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma in Human Services, Community Support, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2+ years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities and behavior challenges
- Class 5 Driver’s License required (Class 4 preferred); personal vehicle required
- Current First Aid/CPR, Mandt, and Food Safe certifications
- Union membership required (BCGEU)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with personal care and supporting diverse care needs (an asset)
- Strong understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
- Strong communication skills and a passion for building inclusive communities
