Job Summary
Support individuals in various home settings to promote independence, foster learning and community connection, and assist with personal care, emotional support, and medical needs. Follow individualized care plans, advocate for rights and choices, and build routines based on personal preferences. Requires a Class 5 driver's license, one year of experience with developmental disabilities, and current certifications in First Aid, CPR, and Food Safety. Schedule includes Saturdays 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Sundays 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, with statutory holidays possible. Mileage reimbursement is provided for business vehicle use.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma in Human Services, Community Support, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum one year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities and behavior challenges
- Strong understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
- Class 5 Driver's License
- personal vehicle
- Current First Aid/CPR, Mandt, and Food Safe certifications
- Strong communication skills
- Union membership (BCGEU)
