Job Summary
Conduct intake and orientation for new clients, including explaining rules, filing IDs, and assigning beds. Perform documented patrols to ensure compliance with site regulations and health and safety. Manage inventory and secure possessions for clients away from the site, while conducting bed and meal counts and assisting with locker searches. Use the DHS CARES system to track vacancies, manage check-ins and check-outs, and print rosters. Escort clients to required internal and external meetings, ensuring timely receipt of notices from the Social Services Team. Document incidents and noteworthy events during your shift. This role supports single adults at one of our Manhattan shelters, requiring night and weekend coverage.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- FDNY F-02 Fireguard Certificate
- Work experience in residential facilities
- Experience and capacity to work with people experiencing homelessness or other disadvantaged people
- Strong relationship and customer service skills
- Computer literacy with Microsoft applications
- Ability to provide night and weekend coverage as needed
