Job Summary

Conduct daily rounds of the Transitional Living and Learning Center, recording findings in the Activity Report and ensuring building cleanliness. Respond to residents, visitors, and volunteers regarding requests, complaints, and inquiries while monitoring security cameras and verifying authorized access. Provide guidance and teach life skills such as cooking and laundry using trauma-informed approaches, and perform weekly health and welfare checks. Maintain accurate records, manage incident reports, and distribute supplies per policy. Assist new residents with orientation and welcome baskets, and coordinate emergency procedures. Work Sundays and weekday evenings to support families experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, and trauma as they work toward permanent housing.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in social service
  • Community Health Worker Certification
  • experience in a related field
  • three years work experience
  • equivalent combination of education and experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness
  • equivalent combination of education and experience working with mental illness
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to gain working knowledge of SAMMinistries' policies and procedures
  • Ability to act as a representative of SAMMinistries to the public
  • Ability to effectively communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records
  • Ability to use Trauma Informed Care techniques
  • Ability to operate and work effectively in Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Ability to professionally handle crisis situations
  • Must be sensitive to the dynamics associated with individuals who are experiencing homelessness
  • Must be able to react swiftly and effectively to crisis situations
  • Must possess good conflict resolution skills
  • Logic and ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to move in and around personal workspace and to and from other areas including walking up and down stairs several times each day
  • Ability to walk around and monitor multiple floors
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to perform close vision
  • Ability to perform distance vision
  • Ability to perform color vision
  • Ability to perform peripheral vision
  • Ability to perform depth perception
  • Ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to work flexible hours to include evenings and weekends
  • Must be able to operate an agency motor vehicle
  • Successfully obtain a Community Health Worker (CHW) Certification within the first 180 days of hire
  • Successful completion and certification in CPR/First Aid/AED
  • Successful completion and certification in Trauma Informed Care
  • Successful completion and certification in Harm Reduction
  • Successful completion and certification in Housing Frist training
