Job Summary

Provide exceptional customer service and initial reception to families entering or living in the shelter. Assist case managers with after-hours intakes, rehousing plans, and paperwork while assessing immediate needs. Monitor cameras and doors, distribute mail, manage inventory, and maintain a clean physical environment through daily cleaning tasks. Respond to serious incidents by communicating with managers and external sources, then complete all proper documentation. Assign and monitor housekeeping tasks, conduct unit inspections, and resolve resident issues in accordance with shelter rules. Update staff communication logs and attend required professional development meetings.

Required Qualifications

  • 1 year of equivalent experience in human services frontline work, or a related role; a combination of experience plus a high school diploma (or equivalent) may be a substitute
  • Fundamental computer and Microsoft Office skills, with the ability to learn new technologies
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including empathy and patience
  • Responsive crisis-management ability in a sometimes high-stress environment while employing solid decision-making skills
  • Ability to self-motivate and remain professional when working independently
  • Ability to navigate multiple flights of stairs in a home environment
  • CORI/SORI
  • Must be available to work a minimum of one shift per month
  • Must attend staff meetings
  • Must meet all training requirements

Desired Qualifications

  • Preference for experience working with the homeless population
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skill
