Job Summary
Resident Substitute Teachers are responsible for delivering instructional support and classroom management to ensure equal instructional opportunities. They implement the approved curriculum with a variety of teaching techniques, follow school policies and administrative procedures, supervise students in multiple settings, maintain appropriate records, and demonstrate effective communication with students, parents, staff, and the community. The role reports to the Principal/Assistant Principal or designee, and operates on a 10-month schedule (190 days per year) with 7 hours per day and a non-exempt status from overtime.
Required Qualifications
- Education/Training/Experience: An Associate's degree or 60 college credits.
- Experience working with children
- Certification/License: None
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge and use of culturally responsive practices; Ability to follow written and oral instructions; Ability to adapt lesson plan to specific classrooms; Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Drive applications; Knowledge of community resources; Regular and predictable attendance.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to speak understandably; travel to school and local locations; ability to manage physical tasks as described.
