Job Summary
Support residents in the Transitional Living Program through role modeling, mentoring, and crisis counseling while applying a harm reduction philosophy. Engage youth in life skills building via individual coaching, group activities, and workshops covering budget management, food preparation, and conflict resolution. Facilitate self-governance meetings and coordinate community resources to enhance youth success. Assure material and operational support of the program by overseeing unit upkeep, identifying maintenance needs, and empowering residents in space management. Share intervention information with Case Managers, participate in case planning, and establish effective communication with staff and the Department Manager. Perform all required documentation, statistics, and reports to meet program and funder requirements. Maintain professional boundaries and commit to continual learning through trainings and cultural awareness workshops.
Required Qualifications
- Two years' relevant experience working with at-risk youth, homeless youth and/or in a shelter or transitional housing program
- Knowledge of service systems and clinical issues related to out-of-home youth
- MS Office applications, basic computer skills
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team setting
- Experience, ability, and commitment to work with sexual minorities and culturally diverse staff, participants, and community
- Commitment to youth participation and involvement in individual and program planning and evaluation
- Must be available on site to residents in the Transitional Living Program on a regular basis, which includes 24-hour staffing at Outside In
- Sporadically moves boxes and/or items weighing up to 35 pounds
