Job Summary

Plan, develop, and execute physical, social, recreational, and educational events for residents in Sweet Memories and Assisted Living. Assist the Program Director with transportation, resident outings, and monthly calendar production while maintaining digital attendance documentation. Ensure a safe, holistic environment by promoting teamwork, operating a large passenger van safely, and driving the community van. Continually evaluate activity quality and suggest adjustments based on resident needs. Maintain knowledge of local services and events to incorporate into the schedule. Work every other weekend and some evenings at a rate of $16 per hour. This role supports the Resident Care team to keep seniors engaged, healthy, and active.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have a thorough knowledge of social and psychological needs of residents
  • Ability to work without close supervision and to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Must be able to prioritize, utilize good time management and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver's license, with no major violations within 3 years
  • Must have a working knowledge of and be able to utilize technology effectively
  • Must be mobile and able to perform the physical requirements of the job
  • This position requires a variety of physical demands, including the potential for lifting greater than 50 lbs
  • Long stretches on one's feet, walking around is to be expected
  • The Activity Assistant position requires long stretches on one's feet and long stretches requiring the person to drive the community van
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • be eligible to be ensured on the company driving policy
  • be able to operate a large passenger van safely

Desired Qualifications

  • Education or training in a heath care field or certified as an activity professional by a recognized accrediting body, preferred by not required
  • Experience working with seniors and those with memory loss strongly preferred
  • Two years' experience in activity planning for seniors preferred
