Job Summary
Accept and process residents staying in the housing unit, monitoring their activity to ensure safety, security, and compliance with house rules. Maintain accurate records and logs containing pertinent information while keeping the lodge and shelter neat and properly ordered. Communicate effectively with clients to control, lead, and motivate behavior, working independently to enforce established policies. Respond quickly and calmly to emergency situations, initiating proper corrective action while performing combinations of sitting, standing, and walking. Requires a valid driver's license and ability to drive a 9-passenger van. Schedule is Monday through Friday from 4pm to 12am.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to meet attendance requirements
- Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language
- Ability to respond to emergency situations quickly and calmly while maintaining control and initiating the proper corrective action
- Ability to perform combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis
- Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record
- Must be able to drive a 9 passenger van
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- One year experience performing security or social service work
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of general office procedures and practices
- Knowledge of basic record keeping practices and procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients in order to control, lead, and motivate behavior
- Ability to work with the public encompassing all types of behaviors
- Ability to work independently and with limited supervision while enforcing established policies and procedures
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
