Job Summary

Deliver, oversee, and coordinate technical assistance and training on macroeconomic frameworks to support forecasting and policy analysis in central banks and ministries of finance. Prepare medium-term project workplans and 12-month schedules in collaboration with country authorities and IMF stakeholders. Manage short-term expert certification and contracting processes, including drafting terms of reference for Headquarters approval. Maintain close contact with Asia-Pacific Department country teams to prepare TA documents and reports for internal review. Contribute to corporate activities such as steering committee meetings, annual reporting, and conference preparation. This role involves TA missions and training engagements across sixteen Pacific Island countries, supported by the Institute for Capacity Development.

Required Qualifications

  • post-graduate degree in Economics
  • at least five years of relevant professional experience
  • practical knowledge of the IMF's financial programming framework
  • excellent data management and analytical skills
  • use of MS Excel
  • econometric applications
  • experience in macroeconomic modelling and forecasting
  • strong spoken and written communication in English
  • exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and diplomatic skills
  • ability to work well in teams
  • prepared to take up the position in Suva in December 2026
  • initial appointment for a period of one year with the possibility of extension contingent on performance and ongoing budget/business needs for up to four years
