Job Summary

Create a nurturing learning environment by facilitating independent performance in daily living activities and implementing Individual Plans of Care. Monitor medical, physical, and behavioral changes daily, reporting incidents within 24 hours and administering medications per policy. Assist with community outings, medical appointments, and meal preparation while maintaining household cleanliness and vehicle safety. Manage petty cash accounts, ensure client fund accuracy, and adhere to confidentiality policies. Perform active work both inside and outside the home, utilizing protective hold techniques to ensure safety. Maintain professional interactions with families, medical professionals, and the community while participating in required training.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be able to lift and transfer 70-75lbs
  • Must be able to utilize approved protective hold techniques
  • Must possess a valid CT driver's license
  • Must have a good driving record
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to perform active work, both inside and outside of the program
  • Must be able to communicate with people at various ability levels
  • Must possess organizational abilities to implement programs and services designed to enhance the individual's learning process
  • Must possess self-motivation
  • Must demonstrate organizational ability, experience and ability to communicate effectively with persons with developmental disabilities
  • Must demonstrate some knowledge of educational and behavioral programs
  • Must display patience, encouraging attitude, optimism, energy, communication skills, and a nurturing temperament
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with persons with developmental disabilities
  • Must be able to perform all job functions required

Desired Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • At least two years of experience in the field of Human Services
  • A Bachelor's degree in a related Human Services area in addition to experience
  • Willingness to learn about current issues in the field of developmental disabilities
  • Interest in improving the quality of life for people
  • Interest in household management
  • Interest in teaching
