Resident Engineer - MassPort/MBTA

Job Summary

Manage a project team of construction inspectors and office engineers to ensure all work adheres to contract specifications, approved safety plans, and environmental permits. Monitor CPM schedules and milestones while evaluating contractor pay requisitions and processing payment approvals. Lead project progress meetings, coordinate with contractors and stakeholders to mitigate scheduling conflicts, and prepare change orders for extra work requests. Analyze constructability issues and provide effective solutions to support negotiations. Ensure the client remains current on project progress and all emerging issues. Work year-round in varied weather conditions, including off-hours and weekends, requiring a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field
  • Ten (10) years of civil construction work experience, new commercial building construction or equivalent setting
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) registered in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Must be able to lead and manage CE&I project staff, ensure all aspects of project work are accounted for
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to perform work year-round in varied weather conditions, and during off-hours and weekends when necessary

  • Must have adequate physical ability and shall maintain such for proper continuation of job performance

  • Candidate shall be required to possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License and auto insurance
  • Candidate must have reliable transportation

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field is preferred
  • Experience working on MassPort or MBTA projects
  • Experience utilizing PMWeb Project Management Information System software
  • Experience using Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, SharePoint, Compass, and AASHTOWare software
  • Experience with construction MEP and fire protection systems
  • ACI Certification
  • NETTCP Concrete
  • NETTCP HMA Paving
  • NETTCP Soils and Aggregate
  • ATSSA Traffic Control Technician
  • OSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety and Health

Additional Requirements

  • Candidate shall be required to possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and auto insurance
  • Candidate must have reliable transportation
