Job Summary
Lead construction activities from Notice to Proceed through final completion for complex transportation, facilities, and railroad projects. Interpret and enforce contract plans, specifications, and applicable codes while monitoring contractor performance, CPM schedules, and critical path milestones. Review and approve pay requisitions, negotiate Change Orders, and oversee digital document control systems including AASHTOWare and COMPASS. Ensure compliance with safety plans, environmental permits, and state/federal regulations through material inspection and testing. Serve as the primary liaison with DOT/agency stakeholders and lead progress meetings to keep clients informed of risks and recommended actions. Supervise inspection and office engineering staff to promote a culture of safety and accountability. Requires a PE license or CCM credential, ten years of progressively responsible field experience, and willingness to work nights, weekends, and varied weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in civil, highway/bridge, facilities, and/or railroad construction, including substantial field experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential
- Demonstrated experience leading CE&I teams and managing construction contracts on complex projects
- Prior supervisory experience overseeing inspection and field staff
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to travel to project sites
- Ability to work in active construction and railroad environments, including uneven terrain and proximity to traffic or track
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and off-hours as required for project needs
- Ability to work year-round in varied weather conditions
Desired Qualifications
- DOT or federally funded project experience
- Active railroad experience
- Relevant certifications (ACI, NETTCP, ATSSA, OSHA 10/30)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management/document control platforms
