Job Summary
Lead construction activities from Notice to Proceed through final completion on CTDOT highway, bridge, facility, and railroad projects. Interpret and enforce contract plans, specifications, and applicable codes while monitoring contractor performance, CPM schedules, and critical paths to identify risks. Review and approve contractor pay requisitions, prepare Change Orders, and oversee digital document control systems. Ensure compliance with safety plans, environmental permits, and state/federal regulations through material inspection and testing. Serve as the primary liaison with CTDOT, rail agencies, municipalities, and utilities to lead progress meetings and keep stakeholders informed. Supervise inspection and office engineering staff on complex projects requiring field presence, night shifts, and travel in varied weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in civil, highway/bridge, facilities, and/or railroad construction, including substantial field experience.
- Connecticut Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential.
- Demonstrated experience leading CE&I teams and managing construction contracts on complex projects.
- Prior supervisory experience overseeing inspection and field staff.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
- Ability to work in active construction and railroad environments, including uneven terrain and proximity to traffic or track.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and off-hours as required for project needs.
- Ability to work year-round in varied weather conditions.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience on CTDOT and/or federally funded DOT projects.
- Experience on active railroad projects (Metro-North, Amtrak).
