Job Summary
Coordinate construction inspection activities and material testing operations to ensure compliance with project plans, approved shop drawings, and specifications. Plan, schedule, and oversee administrative functions including human resources, training, inventory, safety, and budget monitoring. Review and recommend approval of payment applications while managing Area Office record management. Meet with contractor supervisors on project sites to verify compliance with plans and resolve interpretation differences. Assign work priorities to direct reports, review inspection procedures, and perform operational walk-throughs and competency testing. Submit accurate daily testing and inspection reports in accordance with the Quality Plan. Maintain professional licenses and certifications, and carry out duties per established procedures. Travel to project sites and work in varying conditions, including irregular hours as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- P.E. License in applicable state, or if out of state must obtain P.E. license in applicable state within 6 months of hire
- Minimum four (4) years progressively responsible experience in transportation engineering
- two (2) years of construction management
- one (1) year supervisory experience
- valid driver's license within the applicable jurisdiction
- meet firm's auto insurability requirements
- Good oral and written communications skills
- ability to maintain effective working relationships with internal and external personnel
- Intermediate in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Able to travel to project sites
