Job Summary
Enhance resident well-being, autonomy, and participation in community life by evaluating and improving programs designed to increase resident involvement. Lead and improve the welcome program for new residents, facilitate their integration, and build strong partnerships with local entities, vendors, and contractors. Record and document discussions during town hall and resident council meetings, while creating and distributing the monthly schedule of community events and a newsletter. Develop and implement programs in line with guidelines and brand standards, and grow and oversee a dynamic volunteer program for in-person and remote volunteers, including student internships. Manage the department's budget and ensure team compliance with mandatory training and certifications.
Required Qualifications
- degree or diploma in a field related to aging and wellness, such as Gerontology, Kinesiology, Human Kinetics, Therapeutic Recreation, Leisure Studies, Health Promotion, or Health Sciences
- at least one year of experience in developing programs for seniors, whether in independent living, assisted living, or community center environments
- minimum of one year in a management or supervisory role
- Certified, or willing to become certified within the first 60 days of employment, to teach group land fitness and aquatic fitness classes for seniors, as recognized by the organization
- valid driver's license, with the readiness to obtain a Class 4 License within six months of employment if required, complemented by a clean driving record
- Currently certified in CPR and First Aid
- Certificate in Serving It Right (or willingness and ability to obtain)
- Proficiency in Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Excel, as well as virtual technologies such as Zoom/Teams etc.
- legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work/study permit
- successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check
