Resident Controls Engineer, Modular R&D

$164,000–$206,000 year

On-siteAustin, Texas, United States

Full TimeSmall

Job Summary

Engineer and check out modular data center controls on the Phoenix manufacturing line, owning every point from panel to termination. Live on the floor daily to catch wiring and I/O issues at the station, then run point-to-point checkout, loop checks, and first-article functional tests in person. Own real-time controls support by answering RFIs same-day and engineering fixes into the next revision, while closing the loop to design team to prevent defects from shipping again.

Required Qualifications

  • You've engineered or commissioned controls systems hands-on: PLC, BMS, or industrial automation, from integrators, BMS contractors, or data center commissioning firms
  • You've done point-to-point checkout and loop checks on real panels at volume, not just reviewed them on paper
  • You've worked on a shop floor or production line, and dispositioning a nonconformance in the moment is familiar work, not an escalation
  • You've supported production launches or startups of systems you helped build, and stayed until they ran
  • You iterate fast without losing configuration control: when the drawing, the wiring, and the logic disagree, you can isolate which one is wrong and keep the line moving while it gets fixed
  • You write the logic, then stand at the cabinet proving every point

Desired Qualifications

  • Bonus: PLC programming (Rockwell, Siemens), data center BMS platforms, panel and wiring diagram standards, or instrumentation depth
