Job Summary
Assist residents with activities of daily living, including hygiene, dressing, and mobility using proper lifting techniques. Manage meal distribution and feeding while monitoring appetites to ensure nutritional needs are met. Monitor physical and cognitive health, promptly reporting changes to nursing staff, and maintain clean living areas while following emergency protocols. Support well-being by facilitating social, recreational, and spiritual activities, including excursions and exercises. Attend multidisciplinary meetings, participate in continuing education, and strictly adhere to facility policies regarding confidentiality and safety. Operate mechanical lifts and other related equipment safely. Shifts run from 0600 to 1400, 1400 to 2200, or 2200 to 0600. A Residential Care Aide Certificate and good standing with the BC Care Aide Registry are required.
Required Qualifications
- Residential Care Aide Certificate from a reputable/accredited school
- Must be registered in good standing with the BC Care Aide Registry
- Fluent in written and oral English
- Physically and mentally able to carry out the duties of the position under minimum supervision
- Ability to organize workload efficiently
- Ability to safely operate mechanical lifts and other related equipment
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred minimum 2 years of long-term care or assisted living experience
- Food Safe & WHMIS Certificates
- Basic First Aid
