Job Summary
Oversee operation and maintenance of Housing Authority properties and supervise skilled and semi-skilled staff in major repair programs. Responsibilities include scheduling and supervising care, cleaning, and policing of public spaces; maintaining facility services (water, gas, electricity, heat, hot water, waste disposal); supervising building structures and mechanical equipment (including elevators); inspecting maintenance contractors; training maintenance employees; supervising landscaped areas; responding to repair requests; and scheduling redecorating. Must keep records and prepare reports, utilize computers as needed, and ensure compliance with agency standards. Open to NYCHA and eligible for related internal transfers or promotions; benefits include medical, deferred compensation, and NYCERS pension. Candidates should meet the listed education and supervisory experience requirements and may substitute higher education for up to two years of experience.
Required Qualifications
- A four year high school diploma or educational equivalent
- five years of supervisory experience in operation, repair and maintenance of large tenanted buildings
- three years of which must have been in responsible charge of properties having not less than seven maintenance and operations employees
- higher education may be substituted for up to two years of this experience on the basis of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for each year of experience
- candidates must have at least three years of experience in responsible charge of properties having not less than seven maintenance and operations employees
