Job Summary
Resident Assistant providing care to residents in a small home Long Term Care setting under supervision of nursing leadership. Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, nutrition, participation in activities, housekeeping and laundry support, ensuring safety, confidentiality, and dignity, and applying PHIA/FIPPA and safety protocols. Requires compassionate, empathetic demeanor, strong communication with residents and families, ability to organize priorities, and willingness to work a night/weekend schedule. Requires Health Care Aide certificate and Food Handler certification; bilingual proficiency expected for designated roles; valid driver’s license and ability to travel to regional facilities as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 education
- Health Care Aide Certificate from recognized program
- Certified Food Handler Certificate or willing to obtain
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with residents, families, and staff
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Willingness to travel to other regional facilities as required
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to an all-purpose insured vehicle (as needed)
- Criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks as specified
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to work nights and weekends as anticipated
- Bilingual (English and French) proficiency for bilingual positions
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment
- Must meet health and safety training requirements
- Must be able to perform duties that may require physical effort (lifting, transferring) and be able to meet physical demands of the job
