Job Summary
Resident Assistant provides care to residents living in a small home environment within Personal Care Homes, assisting with activities of daily living, ensuring dignity and quality of life, and supporting nutrition, activities participation, and environmental care (laundry, housekeeping). Acts with initiative to prioritize tasks, follows PHIA/FIPPA requirements, WHIMS, and SCHIPP processes, and collaborates with RN/LPN/RPN team leaders. Requires compassionate, empathetic demeanor, ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff, and flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends; may travel to other regional facilities. Must hold Health Care Aide Certificate and related certifications, have a valid driver’s license, and pass routine background checks; bilingual capability may be required for designated positions.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 education required
- Health Care Aide Certificate from recognized program
- Certified Food Handler Certificate or willing to obtain
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with all-purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000
- Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) is essential for bilingual positions
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check and Child Abuse Registry Check
