Job Summary
Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, dining, grooming, mobility, and continence while promoting their independence. Plan daily care schedules, document needs on the 24-hour report, and notify the Program Director of significant status changes. Clean and organize resident apartments, prepare and serve food in the dining room, and facilitate social activity programs. Adhere to company policies, maintain training certifications, and communicate effectively with staff and residents. Work some holidays and weekends in a senior living community overlooking Lake Michigan.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent work experience
- Demonstrated interest in working with the senior population
- Ability to work some holidays and weekends
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Detail orientation
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently
- Ability to see at close range, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to talk and hear
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel, and reach with hand and arms
- Ability to remain seated for periods of time to perform computer based work
- Ability to participate in filing activity
- Ability to lift and carry office supplies (paper reams, mail, etc.)
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to push/pull of up to 50 pounds
- Ability to perform fine hand manipulation (keyboarding)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with people with dementia
- Related experience working in a Continuing Care Retirement Community
