Job Summary
Provide emotional support to residential clients through active listening, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques to ensure safety and dignity. Collaborate with Case Managers and supervisors on service updates, document client situations, and conduct exit interviews and safety planning. Manage shelter operations by monitoring facility safety and cleanliness, assisting with basic life skills, and distributing supplies from the resident advocate desk. Transport clients to appointments and meetings, monitor inventory, and co-facilitate resident meetings and volunteer activities. Work 3-11 hours Monday through Friday, maintaining a valid Texas driver's license to operate a company vehicle.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, sociology, or similar
- 6 months of experience working in a residential facility, shelter, or similar environment
- OR an associate degree and any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Bilingual, English/ Spanish
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- clear driving record
- Knowledge of domestic violence and client trauma
- Skilled in Microsoft Office applications
- Skilled in verbal de-escalation and crisis management
- Ability to communicate in both written and verbal formats to meet position responsibilities
- Ability to be sensitive to the language, economic, and cultural needs of clients
- Ability to safely drive a company vehicle to offsite locations and attend off-site meetings and events
- Maintains professional boundaries with clients at all times
- Protects client confidentiality
- Ability to work overtime when necessary to cover shifts
- Ability to work some weekends, evenings, and overnight hours
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as stooping, bending, reaching, and climbing to interact with children and clients
- Ability to lift and carry light objects (less than 25 lbs.) frequently
