Job Summary

Residence Life Coordinator at Aquinas College is a live-in professional role responsible for facilitating and assessing the residential experience focused on student engagement within the Housing and Residence Life Department. The position trains and supervises student staff, completes administrative and programmatic duties for a residential community housing 225-400 residents, and responds to campus emergencies or crises. Responsibilities include implementing a superior residential experience, participating in cross-departmental projects, on-call coverage, adjudication and mediation of student conduct, wellness checks, budget and records administration, housing selection and assignment processes, staff training and development, programming to promote student learning and retention, and collaboration with committees and departments to support student success. The role requires collaboration with colleagues, on-campus presence, strong communication with students and parents, and the ability to live on-campus and work flexible hours.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Master’s Degree in College Student Personnel/Student Affairs Administration, Higher Education Administration, or related field highly preferred
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in Higher Education residence life
  • Knowledge of student development theory and best practices in student affairs and higher education
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Experience conducting interventions with students with mental health concerns or other personal/academic issues
  • Knowledge of legal standards pertaining to crisis incidents involving students in higher education
  • Experience in conflict resolution and mediation
  • Analytical thinking, problem solving, and sound decision-making
  • Ability to train, coach and mentor direct reports and manage performance
  • Ability to access all residential facilities on-campus to ensure safety/security/respectable conditions
  • Willingness and ability to live on-campus
  • Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule including some evening, weekend, and holiday on-call hours
  • Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations
