Job Summary
Work alongside and assist full-time Police Officers with assigned duties, gaining practical experience in patrol operations, special events, and community activities. Participate in departmental training, learn and follow policies, and maintain professionalism while representing the City. Complete the APOST physical fitness test and background selection processes to serve as an unpaid Reserve Officer in the Oneonta Police Department. This role offers hands-on exposure to municipal law enforcement operations for individuals interested in developing skills for a future full-time career.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Must meet applicable requirements for service as a Reserve Police Officer in Alabama
- Must successfully complete required background and selection processes
- Ability to successfully complete the APOST physical fitness test, which includes: 1.5-mile run in 15 minutes, 28 seconds or less
- Ability to successfully complete the APOST physical fitness test, which includes: Completion of the required obstacle course
- Ability to successfully complete the APOST physical fitness test, which includes: 22 push-ups in one minute
- Ability to successfully complete the APOST physical fitness test, which includes: 25 sit-ups in one minute
- Strong interest in law enforcement and public service
- Willingness to learn, accept instruction, and work as part of a team
