Job Summary
Reserve Deputy Sheriff for Hernando County Sheriff's Office. Patrols assigned areas to preserve public order and tranquility, prevent/detect crimes, and enforce civil and criminal law. Conducts arrests and testifies in prosecutions; protects crime scenes; gathers and preserves evidence; transports prisoners; serves warrants and court orders; enforces traffic laws and investigates accidents. Works under supervision, may operate in uniform or plain clothes, with shifts and occasional overtime; abilities include quickly reacting in emergencies, coordinating with others, preparing clear reports, and maintaining physical condition. Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and state police officer training certification.
