Reservations Manager

Job Summary
Oversee the Reservations function, including hotel switchboards and staff communications, to ensure friendly, efficient service and accurate rate quoting. Direct the work of at least three full-time associates while leading the PBX team, managing schedules, and providing coaching. Maximize occupancy and average rate by communicating with Sales and Revenue Management, updating availability calendars, and implementing sales strategies. Handle special reservations, manage department expenses and payroll, and attend monthly Rooms Merchandising and weekly Revenue Management meetings. Work in a high-pressure environment requiring independent judgment, discretion, and the ability to evaluate alternative courses of action quickly.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree or college coursework preferred
- Experience in a hotel or a related field
- Supervisory experience in a hotel or a related field
- Ability to convey information and ideas clearly
- Ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
- Ability to work well in stressful high pressure situations
- Ability to be effective at listening to understanding and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests
- Ability to work with and understand financial information and data and basic arithmetic functions
- Ability to maintain composure and objectivity while under pressure
- Comprehensive knowledge of the field's concepts and principles
- Ability to perform complex tasks typically following established processes
- Ability to lead and direct the work of other associates
- Ability to primarily focus on administering established policies and procedures
- Ability to have some impact on departmental budgeting strategic planning and procedural change
